WOYWW - All Wrapped Up !

Well my desk is finally free of Christmas cards as they are all safely delivered to the post box !

This week it is covered in the components that are building up into my Journal Your Christmas project !

I have been doing this for several years now & it really makes me feel Christmassy !
I am not really following the prompts as they haven't really changed year on year - it is more of a diary this year - tracking how the month progresses.

So this week it has been about a frenzy of present wrapping over the weekend whilst Much Beloved was in Manchester for the footie !

Sunday night Lynda & I went to a bilingual Carol Concert at a traditional Welsh Chapel - fabulous Welsh Male Voice Choir, mixed Choir, Ladies Choral Society, 3 school choirs and a full Brass Band - given the Welsh talent for singing as you can imagine the musical sound was amazing !

Mind you we both felt seriously Ex-Pat - being English & speaking no Welsh we could only follow 50% of the service and it was a slightly surreal experience to hear all the tunes - so familiar since childhood - of all the traditional carols - but not to be able to understand a word that was being sung !

I drove home though the small local village of Llanedi - where the village green is dominated by this huge Christmas Tree - it certainly made me stop in my tracks to take a photo !!

Also saw this Brass Band in M&S at Parc Trostre on Sunday morning & immediately thought of Lunch lady Jan - as she is a Band Lady - and they were from Burry Port just like her !

Apart from JYC the only little bit of crafting was to make a tree ornament to be swapped at Craft Club tomorrow night - it is our annual Christmas Nibbles Night !
Hope you Christmas preparations are going smoothly & your stress levels are low !
Have a great week !

Ali xx

  3. I wish mine were finished!! I should be doing them now, rather than reading blogs, but you're all too interesting! All the music sounds lovely - perfect for getting you in the festive mood. Enjoy! Chris # 8

  4. That's a gorgeous page for your Christmas journal - I love that idea - you can look back on all those happy memories. There's nothing like a carol concert to get me in the Christmas mood - it sounds like a wonderful evening, especially with those beautiful Welsh voices - there's nothing to beat a good Welsh choir! Hope you have a great week,

  5. a bilingual concert sounds interesting indeed. I've never taken part in JYC, but I do have a Christmas recipes junk journal, I'll add to that this year. Horace @ no. 32

  7. I was saying on Lynda's blog, how envious I am of you two going to that concert...you just don't get that kind of full on sound anywhere except Wales! I bet the sound was amazing :-). I bet every brass band in the Uk has been out busking this week, Burry Port are an amazing band, with I'd joined them when I was younger.
Wishing you the happiest of Christmasses...thank you for all the support and lovely comments throughout the year!
    Hugs, LLJ 20 xx

  8. I seem to have missed the fact that it is Wednesday! Not blogged and just saw yours and Julia's posts...have Luke and his mates at home and took them to work with me this morning...not really coping with this school holiday thing and no home help (spoiled rotten I know) Andrew has clean, but wrinkled shirts for work.

  16. Hi Ali,

What an experience to attend the service! I imagine the music was beautiful. It would be interesting to listen to carols in another language. Your ornament is very cute!

    Happy WOYWW

  18. Hi, Ali, congratulations on getting all your cards out! That's always a good feeling. I haven't done any wrapping yet -- ack! But my husband and daughter will be out of the house Saturday morning, so I think that is my opportunity. Your ornament is so pretty! Someone will be very happy to take it home, I'm sure. Happies of WOYWWs and Merry Christmas, since I probably won't do much visiting on Christmas Eve next week.
