Well just a quick post today as only a few crafty things happening on my work-desk this week !
I have been playing in my Art Journal with my new Chloe stamps and some butterflies from a napkin ..
the theme is "Without Change There Would Be No Butterflies"
August's tag challenge was Glitz & Glamour and use Mica Powders ... found these tricky with the mica powders smudging - anyone know a tip on how to stop this ?
The "posh frock" stamp was one from a bargain basket at the stamp show at Ally Pally in April !
The glitz is Chloe Sparkilicious.
And at the weekend I got stuck in to making the star blocks for the quilt I am working on - they are all pieced now - I hope to work on the hand appliqué blocks by the pool on holiday next week !
Catch you in a couple of weeks !
Have a great crafty week ! Ali x
your desk looks pretty busy to me - love the journal page! your quilt squares are fabulous too. Does you going away mean you'll miss Ally Pally this time? Hope to see you soon though. Helen 2
ReplyDeleteOoo lots of fab things you have created! Sorry, I have never used mica powder. Can't help you there.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt pieces. You do sewing on holiday? Now that is dedication!
Have a good week,

Lovely thing you've been working on! The patchwork is looking great, really neat and precise...mine is always thrown together somewhat haphazardly...I wish I could find that part of me that should be meticulous......I'm still searching, lol!!!

pretty sure you can spray mica with hairspray to stop it moving - maybe test it on a small patch

Have a fab holiday.
ReplyDeleteMica powders need gum Arabic to set them..either in liquid or powder form...it depends on the brand as to whether they're pre-mixed with it or not. If they're smudging because you're stippling them on to meet ink, you could do as Charlie suggests and spray hairspray over it as a fixative..or use a matt spray fixative. Smudging largely depends o. The ink drying too.....
Lots of gorgeousness on your desk this week, Ali. I do love the butterflies and it's all such a fabulous colour! Actually your sentiment about butterflies exactly matches my latest Zentangle drawing which I showed the sneak peek of - I now have permission to show this on my blog so it will be up tomorrow. Thank you for your lovely comment and your good wishes for my treatment on Friday - only 3 more to go - I can't wait for it all to be over now! I'm so glad you like my fabulous cat box. Once I get better I'm getting my sewing machine going again and the little cats will be a good way of practising free machine embroidery. It will be a fun thing to do, and I shall contact the lady who made the box and let her know about it. She was so pleased it had gone to the home of cat people! A purrfect present, as you say!
