WOYWW - Will Winter Ever End !!

No blog post last week as I was away in Spain - and we had some lovely sunshine even if the northerly wind was pretty biting at times !

I had this crazy optimism that spring might have crept in a bit back here in Wales whilst we were away - but sadly this winter seems to be endless - week after week of cold - will I ever get out of fleecy tops & thick warm trousers !!

We got back at the weekend -and I was able to have a bit of time playing at my workdesk on Sunday !

So there is a bit of a mish-mash on the desk today !

I finally got around to playing in my journal - haven't seemed to be in the mood for journaling for ages ! More later !

In the middle of my desk you can see the new Alphabet set of stamps I had been lured by - can you ever have enough alphabets !?!

On the right towards the back is a little red box - this was a present from my friend Jan in Spain which she has filled with loads of cute die cut pieces for me - these are going to be great fun to play with on my layouts & cards or journal !!

I love the arched windows especially - I have some ideas bubbling in my head for these !

I have a few packets of seeds piled up - can't believe it will ever be warm enough to sow seeds !

You can also see lurking a couple of little blue die cut butterflies which were on the table at a Gala Dinner we went to with our friends in Spain last week... fellow scrappers will know the compulsion to squirrel away little mementos which can be used on layouts !!

And a couple of freebies - some little buttons & a mini stamp from the front of this month's Craft Stamper magazine are waiting to find a good home !

So some play time in my journal ...

To tell you the truth, I don't really know where this page is going !!

They say that inspiration can strike from anywhere !!
I came across these apple shapes as labels on some mini chopping boards we bought last week - and they really took my eye ! So I snaffled them, brought them home and used them as a template to cut the shapes in some papers ... I am hoping the page will tell me where it wants to go next !!

As you might be able to tell I am obsessing that winter is dragging on - and on and on - with so few signs that spring is coming !!
But these snowdrops did cheer me up when we found them bravely blooming away in the National Botanic Garens of Wales near us last month - how could they not make me feel hopeful for the spring to finally be around the corner ... please, please !!

And one last page playing with my new Bunny stamps from Crafty Individuals ... and my collection of grasses stamps, the new alphabet set - and the stars were also a freebie on a recent Craft Stamper magazine !!

Well that's me for this week ... have a great crafty week !
Take care Ali xx

Love the bunny page. Great stash from Spain and I so know what you mean about collecting stuff off tables and the like...

  5. Yep, a week of decent light and change will do that to you - the winter really is like the last guest - just doesn't know when to go! Love your journal page..even more that you don't quite know where it's going...one of the reasons I don't do it is because it always feels very contrived, so am enjoying that you did it just because that's what happened!

  12. Hi Ali, I cannot agree with you more - winter is dragging on forever and it's hard to believe that tomorrow will be the first day of spring ... I wish! However, clumps of snowdrops are guaranteed to cheer us up, if only for a little while. Love the apple shapes. When I'm stuck for ideas I just walk away from the desk and as often as not the rest works wonders. Hope you are having a happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #55

  16. I do feel badly about showing off my sunshine and flowers today, Ali, when I had no idea that a lot of my WOYWWing friends were snowed in AGAIN! I'll shut up about spring until I'm sure it has finally sprung for everyone!

Your desk was a delight today! I look forward to seeing where your clever apple cutout pages take you! Thanks for coming by! Have a wonderful week! Darnell #42

  18. Hi Ali, Where have you been hiding if you have to ask about the Big Pink Thing??? It's the tape runner that Julia waxes lyrical about (she has a yellow one though) I was sucked in by the offer she pointed us to in January and ordered one. Just getting to grips with its size but it is doing fine. Have to say I love your apple page, I don't know where it is going either but wherever, it will be fantastic. Happy WOYWW BJ#137 and thanks for visiting me.

  20. Aww I feel your pain about the winter. I live near one of the great lakes and due to the lake effect we have never ending snow. We should have been seeing signs of spring already but no such luck def not for another couple of months. Hope this season passes for both of us real soon! You should make a mini book about your trip to Spain. I like your 18 month winter page though I'm sure you wish you could make it a 3 month winter! Hope you are having a wonderful day stay warm!

  21. Hi, Ali, I choose to believe that your snowdrops are a very good sign, indeed. Nature isn't always right, unfortunately. My Mom saw a robin in her yard a couple of weeks ago -- we have since hurled retrospective invective at his wee head for being too premature a harbinger of spring!) I *adore* your bunny page. 22. Sorry Ali - now we've got an amber snow weather warning for tonight!!!! I think spring has been cancelled:(( The metal flower on my desk is the top of a little box I made to store small metal embellishments/brads (it's posted on my blog somewhere!!) Please wrap up warm tomorrow. Happy belated WOYWW and thanks for dropping by, hugs Jenny x
