And also it poured here for most of Sunday !
I hate it when we have rain here in Wales at the weekend & my parents in England have a lovely day - I get so grumpy !
And of course it rains here endlessly so I am often grumpy !!
So here is my grumpy journal page - gloomy colours & grumpy comments - thought it might get it out of my system !!
I have watched people doing masking with stamping but not really tried it myself - so I printed out the words - then cut the letters out & used it as a stencil.
Then used the cut out letters to mask & stamp over - I liked the effect & would try it again but I used repositionable spray & when I lifted the letter they stuck & torn the page !
As this was a grungy sort of page it didn't really matter - but for something which would need to look nicer, I'll have to find something else to stick the mask down with !
All suggestions welcome !!
And I also ventured down to The Range to seek out the new Home to Nest range - I had seen it advertised & with various family birthdays & Father's Day combing
Mum & Dad both love their garden & the wild birds so the designs in this pack should be perfect !
Have a great crafty week ! Ali x

Oooh what a lovely journal page - it doesn't seem grumpy at all! How annoying about the glue though - I tend to hold mine down with my finger but that's not always that easy is it. Sunshine Girl 31.
ReplyDeleteLove the page! I agree with the endless winter gripe though, still have the heating on at times... ridiculous!! I haven't cut paper stencils so can't help... sorry. Have a good week Helen 3
ReplyDeleteHi Ali
ReplyDeletewow your journal pages look fantastic I love what you have done with the words they are blended in so well and make the pages pop.
Try using repositionable tape pens for holding the letters down it lifts off easier.
Happy WOYWW #204 and enjoy the rest of your week

Love your journal pages! Endless winter seems right on track. Normally here in Oklahoma it is in the 60-70 range daily but we had a freeze on Saturday and was told to expect one on Thursday. I want it to warm up so I can put the plants out and spend time outside! bah humbug...grumpy is right! Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #41

ReplyDeletewell grumpy suits your art anyway - the page is fab. I do know what you mean.. a small injection of dry and warm at the same time wouldn't go amiss, huh! Love the stencil letters - you're very patient!
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question ....NO

ReplyDeleteWaving hi from the bears who forgot to check what number we are!
Ah, yes, the interminable winter ... I'm happy to say that it's not so bad here, we are getting sunny spells interspersed with rain. Angie lives on the east side of Scotland so she is still suffering, so I'll try to shove a bit of sun to both of you :) Love your journal page even if it is grumpy - you did a great job with the lettering :) Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #92
ReplyDeleteLove your 'endless winter' page spread!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW :)

I like the journal page. Trust today was good in your bit of Wales. We were on Anglesey sitting in glorious hot sunshine....
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

The limited palette on your page really captures the winter feeling. Have you tried sticking down a mask with masking tape? I find that has less chance of pulling off paint or sticking too much to the paper.
ReplyDeleteLovely grump!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Wales, so this is a nice virtual trip.
thanks for visiting and welcoming me to your place.

WOW Ali your journal pages are out of this world, brilliant. Love the colours and you have captured the endlessness perfectly. Your stencil technique is excellent too, super job. Thanks for visiting me already BJ#48
ReplyDeletePS I'm one of those annoying people who lives in the East but my Mum is in Wales so I know what you mean about the different climate. Sometimes it is the other way round though and she is on the phone saying how beautiful it is and I am in the pouring rain!
Your brilliant pages really do seem to give off a 'it's cold outside' feel! Luckily, it's sunny here today...
ReplyDeleteHave a great crafty week

Love these pages! Shows the sentiments exactly! Nice to make handmade stencils! Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day for WOYWW! Nice to see yours!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Ali, your grumpy winter journal pages look anything BUT grumpy! Those trees and the coloring are really stunning the way they ended up. I haven't read what you actually said about nasty old winter, but from a distance, it made me smile all over my face!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the Playhouse on the WOYWW hop! Have a wonderful rest of the week and I pray it stops raining for you!! Darnell #60
Your post made me smile! First I was getting all anxious - bundling up papers and getting rid of them? Without palpitations? Does this woman need an intervention? Then I saw you'd been shopping again. Relief!! The tape that Sue Wilson uses (it's re-usable) doesn't seem to stick. Or not more than you want it to. I think it's by Scotch (looked at mine - no clues there!!) Happy WOYWW Cindy #59
