WOYWW - Quilt in A Box !

Well not much to report this week as the weekend involved a six hour trip to South East London for my Auntie's 80th Birthday Tea Party !
The journey should have been 4 hours but the traffic was a total nightmare !
Mind you it was worth it and not only for the chance to get together with all my Mum's side of the family !

In Wales we have had endless days of rain - teaming, pouring rain !
In England it was a gorgeous Summer's Day - 32oC !!
Worth the drive !
Here's my birthday Auntie in the middle, my Eldest Auntie on the left & my Mum (she's the baby sister!!) on the right !

I was awake early on Sunday so left the hotel at half 5 and made it home in less than 4 hours - back into the rain of course !

I decided to get stuck back into the quilt I had abandoned when the Cat fabric got my attention !
I got all my pieces cut out ready to start stitching next weekend - because inevitably it will be raining then too !
I have managed to gather everything in this box for safe-keeping !

So on my desk tonight I have the Quilt In A Box, a box I am altering and the tags for this month's challenge - part made.
And a few new Chloe stamps I couldn't resist !

Thought you might like to see these photos from my late summer garden - an artichoke in bloom and one of the vibrant Rudbeckia !

Have a great crafty week ! Ali

  3. Hi Ali, thats an ace photo of your Mom and her sisters. Loving your flowers, and so do the bees by the look of it. Been raining a lot up here in the Midlands too. Feels more like November than August, but then, the bank holidays due, which nearly always means rain! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #5 xxx

  5. Sorry to hear you are already having so much rain. We however have not had enough this winter and I fear we might have water restrictions this summer. The days are definitely warming up and I don't have quite so many layers on. Starting to lose my Mitchalain man impersonation look... I could see just who your Mum was in the photo. So glad you had a good time and that the drive home was not too onerous. Love to you and DH.

The flowers in your garden are stunning! Especially the artichoke flower. I've never seen them flower. (I usually eat them before they do).

  12. Thanks for your sweet visit! That sounds like it was quite a drive but if I could just drive six hours and arrive in London, I would do that! I so want to visit London someday. I love that she's having a birthday tea party. I may have to do that for my next birthday, no. 55! I love that you said, when the cat fabric got your attention...I am just like that too. I can be working on something and then have some fabulous fabric or paper even just steal me away from it! Glad you can get back to it though. Have a great week! Sandy Leigh #44

  17. Hi Ali, thanks for visiting my blog! I chuckled when you said you now feel guilty for ordering online - that wasn't my intention! Lovely shot of your mum and her sisters- I find elderly ladies so endearing. I hope to become one one day. Loving your quilt project, the gloriously busy desk and the pretty flowers. Happy day after WOYWW! zsuzsa xx

  21. Lovely pic of the ladies in your family. I am in awe of the quilt you made. It took me 15 years to finish a project my mother started and I thought never again. Amazing artichoke flower.
