WOYWW - All (Zen)Tangled Up !

Hi - not so much happening on the desk this Wednesday - but happily this is due to projects having been finished !!

Today I have my new Zentangle Basics book - just getting into the whole Zentangle thing & think it could become addictive !

Also a chart I found of all the Distress Inks - I kept wondering what colours I was missing - now I have something to keep in my bag when I'm out & about & happen by a craft shop !

And my work in progress on the box for my board book - my first grungepaper roses !
I have seen all the folk using grunge paper but having dabbled with it now I'm not sure what to make of it - or if I'm doing it right ! Seems to come out very dark (should I use white paint or gesso under the Distress Inks ??) and I expected it to be more "shapeable" - should it fold & hold a shape ??

Any hints & tips gratefully received !!

Have a fun Wednesday !

  1. The roses look fabulous - are they really a first attempt - they look so professional. Zentangles seem to be getting very popular - want to have a try myself and maybe one day ...

  6. I don't have too much problem with grunge and dark colours - guess it depends which ones you use and how much ink you apply - I have found that if you paint a surface first the ink doesn't adhere so well, but not tried gesso. The colours over paint are VERY much paler.
What is the Zentangle book like? I have thought about getting it.

  9. Oooh I dont know about zentagles and am just wondering whether to go and look - I am hopeless and have to try out anything new and I havent got time to do the things I already do! I think the roses look fab but then I like dark - if you bend them into shape they should stay that way, I bend mine around a pokey tool - did you apply stickles after? sometimes that can straighten them out I think.

  11. Why is it people who like to doodle find zentangles so relaxing? I find them frustrating, but that could be because I have trouble holding a pen for more than a few strokes. I have only made one and it was just about one too many. I bet you will love this book and I salute you. Happy WOYWW.

  22. Late again! That zentangle book is going to be verywhere soon - hope you get a lot ofinspiration from it. I'm with Elizabeth about them...drive me mad, don't see the therapy part in it at all!! Can't help with the grunge, but Hels, Jenny or Linda E can, they practically wear it!! Is that a little DI colour chart under the book?
