Hi there - well birthday over & done with for another year. Had a fit of the glooms about it this year - we normally go away but it didn't work out date wise with other commitments this time & so had a normal day at the office. Did get cards & texts from family etc - so need to stop being such a grump !
DH did his best to make it a nice day with pressies (lovely Joules sweatshirt in a yummy plum colour - all chosen by him !) and cooked my supper for me. Its so nice to be cherished !
On my desk this week is Day 28 of Learn Something New - I'm dead proud of myself for keeping up & just 2 days left ! I've resisted looking at 2009's book (which didn't get finished until March this year !) but it will be fun to compare the 2 years when the month is over ! Next stop Journal Your Christmas !! I've already bought the papers I'm going to use ! Sad or what !
And some photos of our friends wedding last Friday ready to be scrapped this weekend - I made them a mini book on Sunday & posted it to them - not sure if it's their kind of thing but I enjoyed doing it & hope they like it !
So a question for everyone - storing your stamps - I am trying to stick to buying unmounted and clear stamps as just haven't the room for wooden ones (but do get tempted sometimes !!) currently have them in folders by manufacturer - some of which are bulging & so a major sort out is looming.
I can't decide whether to stick by manufacturer or to move to subject matter - florals, houses (I seem to have a bit of a thing for quirky house stamps !!), swirls, birds & animals, cutsie, Christmas etc etc - what does everyone else do ? What seems to work best ? Do you keep a reference book with images from all your stamps in it for ease of finding just the "right" image when you want it ? I've got one but its a bit higgledy-piggledy as I've added bits to pages here there & everywhere ! All hints & tips gratefully received !!
One extra picture this week - my desk at work ! I had to take card & the faithful trimmer into work to make place cards for a product presentation today - so work desk relocated this morning !
I don't have many clear unmounted stamps, I really prefer the wooden ones - though they take up so much space.... I don't organise the clear ones I have at all, they are kind of - jumbled! so I won't have been any help to you at all! Have a good WOYWW.
ReplyDeleteGreat desk and well done for keeping up with LSNED I'm sadly.........way behind! S #33

ReplyDeleteFab desk ... and well done you for keeping up ... sadly I rarely keep up with anything these days and am always in awe of those that do X
ReplyDeleteI'm not a rubber stamper any more and am selling mine off ...see my blog today. Used to do a lot but now have no time with all the other things I do.

Well done for keeping up - I've seen lots of posts about this and it looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good birthday - they're not the same once you're past 21 are they!
It's great to have an OH that appreciates you! I don't seem to have any system for filing my stamps...wish I did so I'm open to any suggestions as well. Have a great WOYWW. Pam (12)
ReplyDeleteYOur desks are both pretty organised huh! I have my wood mounted stamps on shelves, in rouch categories - all the texts, alphas etc, christmas, flowers/nature, patterns...but not ring-fenced or rigid, I just seem to know where they are! Well done with your LSNED, very impressive staying power! Happy returns, sorry that you get the grumps over a birthday, I don't so have no ideas as to how you can shake 'em off!
ReplyDeletea desk packed with goodies.. nice card there too

ReplyDeletethanks for the peek I'm sure you'll feel much better soon I had a birthday this week....spent it at work but at least my son, daughter and grandson came and spent some time with me

I buy a lot of sets, and I like to keep the sets together, so I've started a stamp book. All birthday stamps (with notation of brand and where they are stored written in). This serves two purposes. First I have this goal that I will stamp every stamp I own lol. Second, it's lovely having my own "in-house" catalog.
ReplyDeleteI find I have a lot of themed stamps too. I also love house stamps. And I find I just can not have enough Eiffel Tower stamps. I only have one gnome stamp, but I have hopes of finding more lol.
I'm enjoying the heck out of my background stamps too, probably the thing I've been buying the most of lately (Papertrey Ink).
Belated Happy Birthday! I'm very impressed by your stick-to-itiveness in the Learn Something New Everyday. Keep up the good work.
I don't own enough stamps to have categories, so I just throw mine in a drawer. Nice to ready your LSNED book is up to date. What a hoot to see your desk at work that now looks a bit like your desk at home (grin). Happy WOYWW (#1).
ReplyDeleteHi Ali....hope you had a great birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the message....can you email me and I'll tell you the answer to your question.
Addy is on my blog.

Both desks look pretty organised to me - and what fun to be able to scrap at work!! A HUGE pat on the back for keeping up with LSNED... I think I have a massive catch-up looming to get mine into some sort of shape!
ReplyDeleteHope you do find time to celebrate even if it's later on - you should! Great desk, fab work and ideas. Looks very creative. I have opted for storing my stamps by designer as it keep the styles more defined and consequent which helps when putting something together...rather than cute and vintage together for example. Good job with LSNED too. You're doing a fab job - enjoy!

Happy belated birthday Ali, sounds like a good day despite not being able to go away! I've haven't catergorised my clear stamps but have been thinking about doing just that. I think I would go with themes but list the manufacturer on an index sheet.

wow you sound busy, I keep all, well nearly all of my clear stamps in empty video cases, by type, cute, oriental, swirls etc etc and a reference book to decide what I want, but some of the sections in the book are overflowing as I obviously buy lots of those types of stamps, oops :) 121
ReplyDeleteGreat crafty space
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with us, enjoy your day

WEll done you on being so organised... I haven't even thought about my Christmas cards yet... have bought one pressie already though... but.. erm... does it count if it is for ... me??? ROFL Hels (52)
ReplyDeleteI prefer to sort my stamps by manufacturer because that's how I remember them. Well done for getting Christmas stuff started, I think this is going to be yet another year when i wish I'd done the same thing! Helen (16)
ReplyDeletenice desk!
ReplyDeleteMy stamps are sorted by category - I can never remember who the manufacturer is on some of the older ones (oops) but usually I'm looking for a thing rather than a style...
Happy belated birthday! Good to see you doing some crafty things at work, and also enjoying the LSN.
ReplyDeleteMy stamps are sorted by category, as that's how I search for them. Need to go through and put some stickers on to show the manufacturer while I can still remember which is which.
