Mosaic Scrapping

Just a quick photo of the Mosaic scrapbook page we did at our Scrapbook Club last night - not a style I'd ever thought of before as I would have felt all the images would be too small to really show anything .. but its good to be prompted to try new things & I am quite pleased with the results !
I thought I'd have enough photos for a double page - but the design eats photos for breakfast !
It would be great for an event like a party etc where you had masses of photos but no real "centrepiece" ....
And you could put in more "blank" or decorative paper squares if you had less photos ...
Some of the girls were cutting the photos on a trimmer but I borrowed a punch and it made it SO much quicker & more accurate !
Might have a go with a bigger punch square as I don't have one that small ...
Fun to do though - especially when chatting with everyone too !

Wednesday Again - Serpently Is !

Well not much action on my desk this Wednesday !
I have finished my sister's birthday card & packed it up ready to post, and nothing much has got done on my beer-mat "Four Seasons" canvas as we were away all weekend. I thought you might like to see me having a hug with a Royal Python on Saturday !!

Also on my desk is my "project pack" of stuff I have put together for tomorrow's Scrapbook Club over in Pontardulais - we are making a mosaic style page but I'm not sure if I have the right sized photos as typically for me I have lost the "bring to class" list ... I can remember putting it somewhere really safe -no, I mean really safe .... I just haven't a clue where I put it !! - obviously either old age is creeping up on me or I just too much stash to find it !!! Hmm .. what's your money on now you have seen the clutter on my desk !!
There were some lovely shops in Beaumaris and in one called Beau - that did fab shabby chic type stuff - I saw this heart wall hangy-thingy that has slots to hold cards etc.
Inspiration struck !!
I see lots of clever crafters blogging about the fab arty tags you make & they always look really gorgeous but I couldn't figure out what I would do with tags if I were to try to make some but now voila! - a heart shaped tag wall displayer do-da!! Tag projects here I come !!!

Lots of folk who were kind enough to stop by my blog last week asked about the tree stamps on my beer mat project - I got them mail order from the Craft Barn quite a while ago - they are by Katzelcraft - don't know if they are still available but I know I fell in love with them when I first saw them !
Have a great Wednesday & looking forward to wandering past your blog soon !

Never Ending Birthday !

My lovely sister Michaela has something of a reputation for stretching the celebration of her birthday out over at least a couple of weeks ! Good for her ! So this year rather than buy a card I have made her a "Never Ending" Birthday card which flips around several times to show the pictures & messages. I have used some lovely Bo-Bunny scrapbook paper & scaled up the normal card size to 12"x12" -- then photos, some quotes & a nice bit of floral bling ! It'll be winging it's way in the post tomorrow - but doubt Michaela reads my blog so safe to show it here ahead of her birthday on Friday !!

Blogging on Ynys Mon!

So here we are in the Resident's lounge of the Bull's Head Hotel in Beaumauris on Anglesey - sheltering from the sea fog & drizzle of a Welsh summer ! The wonders of Wi-Fi mean I can blog & sip coffee right here !
Thankfully yesterday was lovely as we drove up through Snowden National Park & the views were stunning ! Just had quicklyto share one of the gorgeous views across the mountains !

WOYWW - Back Home in the Rain !

Well that's the holiday in Spain over - great fun with our friends in Madrid & then down in Murcia. Can't really claim it was chilling out as the temperatures hit over 40oC most days !
Back to Wales with a bump - rain, rain, rain as usual !
My team from work were running our annual BBQ for farmers up at the Royal Welsh Show yesterday - and got drenched - again much as usual ! Still we had fun despite the weather & still smelling of BBQ smoke despite several sessions in the shower since !

On my craft desk this week is the makings of a project using those beer mats ! I've had this set of lovely tree stamps for a while but not done anything very much with them - so I'm trying for a layered canvass of the trees through the seasons - I'm going to try stamping onto tissue paper & then added them onto the mats - not something I've tried before - just read about. Not sure if I should colour/ distress ink the stamped images on the tissue before sticking down - or will it just run like mad ... anyone got any thoughts - all advice welcome ?
Also I have a tub of Acrylic Gel Medium - should I use this to stick them down ?

Of course I did manage to find the one stamping stall at the Royal yesterday - Oyster Stamping - and on the edge on my desk you can see the new Martha Stewart punches that I couldn't resist & a couple more Smooch Inks too - and with Distress Inks at 3 for £10 - how could I not add to my collection !

Happy Wednesday - looking forward to browsing some of your desks later !

WOYWW - Surely it can't be Wednesday again already !

Hi there - very late posting this today - to be honest I hadn't cottoned on it was Wednesday - where do the weeks go !
Busy day at work getting everything in a fit shape to leave as am now off on holiday - YEHH !!
Anyway here's my desk today - I picked up 4 beer mats from the local Indian restaurant on Saturday whilst waiting for my takeaway. I am sure that the brilliant Crafter's amongst you will have some inspirational ways with beer mats - so far I have only gesso'ed them & set them to dry.
I knew those long stems on top of the Smooch Inks would come in handy for something !!!
Any inspired ideas welcome !!
I have today's prompt for the "Love your Pictures " class printed out - today we are photographing 3 objects in an attractive setting ..
And my lovely new flower stamps are here waiting - sending me out ... "use me, use me" vibrations !! Flowers & beer mats maybe !!!
Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday !

Bling Blossoms !!

Hi - so here is my entry for this week's Sunday Stamper challenge - as you may have guessed from all the sparklies I've used - the theme this week is Rhinestones.
Well mine are gems but the thought was there !

Hop over to http://www.pinkleart.blogspot.com/ to join in the fun !

This is a Maya Road tag set, well rubbed over with my new distress inks - Rusty Hinge, Scattered Straw & Pumice Stone - plus Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet & my favourites Peeled Paint & Shabby Shutters.

The flowers are my 2 new Hero Arts stamp sets - thanks to Val from Snazzy's (http://www.snazzys.co.uk/ - great shop in Swindon & lovely guys who run it !) for demo-ing these at Newbury on Saturday.
All finished with loads of Papermania gems and some I had free from a magazine !

The Love Your Pictures class kicked off today - have done the photos for the first 2 challenges but no sign of the promised e-mail this evening. Will have to check in the morning as about to tuck down due to a 5am start tomorrow !

Shopping & New Class !

Just got back from a day out with Teresa - a fellow member of our Scrapclub - at the Artstamps Show in Newbury.
It's a nice sized event with enough stalls to empty your purse :) but not as big & crowded as the NEC !! The organisers only allow each the stall holders to bring certain brands of stamps so that you get a good broad selection not everything the same.
So I have a nice haul of new stamps from Hero Arts (fab flowers !), Little Claire (cats & owls - best not to get them too close to one another in case the feathers fly!!), a lovely Circa Designs Poppy & a Scene-It Harbour set - oh and some of the Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, A 12" Glittergirls border stamp which I will try tomorrow and a new Martha Stewart scallop punch !
I never normally buy wooden stamps as have nowhere to store them but I had seen a lovely humming bird stamp in Craft Stamper, looked on the web to no avail but one of the stands had it half price on offer - well it was obvoiusly fate - how could I not get it !!

Watch out for some posts as I try to use all these new treasures along with 3 new Distress Inks & a goodly few more Promarkers !!!!

Shimelle's forum has kicked off for the new class starting on Monday on photography & Scrapping - hoping to learn some new photography tips & get back in the swing of scrapping again ! Just now we are all saying hi on the forum .. still time to join - her classes are always fab ! Hop over to http://www.shimelle.com/ to join in the fun !
