We were heading for the stunning gardens run by the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley in Surrey.
When I lived in West London Much Beloved & I used to go frequently but it is much more of a trek from here in West Wales nowadays !
So we had planned this trip way back last year - timed to see the amazing Long Borders in their Summer splendour ! But with storms forecast for Saturday we flipped the weekend over & had a lovely stop in Lechlade on Saturday. Complete with a trip to the Christmas Shop !
Then on to overnight in Guildford to be at Wisley early for a full day on Sunday - and happily Lynda & Robert agreed it was worth the trip & the early breakfast !
They had an Arts Fest running last weekend and we had the chance to create a Sun-print with Barbara Gunter Jones - this was great fun !
See her website here http://www.barbaragunterjones.co.uk/
So here we are crafting in the sunshine !
I had forgotten quite how lovely the gardens are - I know a lot of you love gardens too so here are some of the highlights to share with you !
Here is some of the art we saw at the Arts Fest
And here is the Card in a Box I made for Lynda & couldn't show you last week until I had given it to her !!
Have a great week ! Ali xx

Hi Ali and thanks for visiting my desk....I must say I love your post this week - we visited Scotland 4 years back and browsed thru one of the garden shops with a huge department set up for Christmas (don't see that type of thing in Australia) - could've spent hours there AND oh yes I love gardens and flowers - your photos are stunning especially the waterlily and fushias -favourites. Now the card in a box, so pretty (checked last weeks boxes and you've given me more ideas as I've recently made a couple and want to do one for father-in-laws 90th) Very interesting sun-prints too. Happy WOYWW and have a great week RobynO#8
ReplyDeleteWell you sure made the right decision about flipping the plans - what a fab weekend you must have had. Love love the sun prints, and of course the gardens are amazing - fabulous photography gal. I'm sort of in love with the statue of the wolf and red riding hood having a hug!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos I couldn't resist pinning the one of the flowers. Wisley is on my list of gardens to visit and want to go even more now. I love the huggy sculpture.
ReplyDeleteHave a fund week!

What a great weekend, Ali. Wisley is somewhere we have never been, but often said would be good. Rather too far for hubby now, though... Lovely, lovely photos of your fun trip - a Christmas shop in full swing??? Oh my! Gorgeous flower shots.

Hi Ali,
ReplyDeleteI can see how much fun you all had. The photos of the flowers are gorgeous.
The pop up card is amazing! I'm sure Lynda loves it!
Happy belated WOYWW (thanks for visiting me already)
Peace, Kay (60)
Hiya Ali ... thanks for popping by my blog earlier & sorry it has taken a while to get back to you. There just don't seem enough hours in the day since hubby retired and wrecked my routine! Was inspired by Clarity's Youtube Tuesday video this week and just as soon as my stencils arrive I am going to give the Gelli plate a go and I will blog what happens. Am expecting a disaster so feel free to have a good giggle at my results.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the card you made for Lynda and I bet she was thrilled with it and I love your stunning photo's. That photo' sensitive paper brought back such memories as we had some as children - can clearly remember getting leaf impressions! Take care, Love Debbie xXx
It looks like you had lots of fun. I love seeing what you are doing in your part of the world. have a lovely week. ~ irene
